WGIPOA and Jamaica Beach Joint Meeting 6/16/18

Mark your calendar and come this Saturday, June 16, for the joint meeting of the West Galveston Island Property Owners Association and the City of Jamaica Beach on Hurricane Preparedness and Recovery at the Jamaica Beach Public Service Building located at 16629 San Luis Pass Road, with booths opening at 9:45 AM and the meeting starting at 10:00 AM and ending at Noon followed by refreshments and food.

June 1 usually begins the hurricane season but we already had Alberto on May 28 making landfall in the Florida Panhandle with winds of 45 mph. NOAA’s National Weather Service forecasts a 70-percent likelihood of 10 to 16 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher) this season, of which 5 to 9 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 1 to 4 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher). An average hurricane season produces 12 named storms, of which 6 become hurricanes, including 3 major hurricanes.

We have a great meeting planned in preparing for a hurricane and how to recover after as you can see by the attached agenda.  We have great speakers and expert in their fields to deal with major storm events so come and hear and learn from the presentations.

Thank you and hope to see you on Saturday June 16, 2018, at the Jamaica Beach Public Service Building, with the booths opening up at 9:45 AM and the meeting starting at 10:00 AM until Noon and following will be refreshments and food.
