MEETING: The next meeting will be on August 16, 2014, beginning at 8:30 AM for breakfast burritos and coffee and 9:00 AM for the meeting at the Galveston Country Club, 14228 Stewart Road.
PROGRAM: Rick Vasquez, Director of Planning for the City of Galveston will present the new Land Development Regulations (LDR). The LDR’s are designed to:
- Support economic development and revitalization
- Improve preparedness for future disaster scenarios
- Update standards and incorporate best practices
- Deal with unique areas like the West End
- Make regulations easier to navigate, understand, and administer
- Coordinates and clarifies administrative process
Galveston Beach Summer Band: Americana at its best! Every Tuesday starting at 7:30 PM through August the Galveston Beach Band will play at the Sealy Pavilion (in front of the Rosenberg Library in downtown Galveston). The Beach Band has been doing these concerts for 48 years through the leadership of Frank Incaprera and it is a must see event.
Sea Turtles: The HEART (Help Endangered Animals – Ridley Turtles) organization needs your help to protect the endangered Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle. Visit the website: http://www.ridleyturtles.org/
