Mission Statement

The West Galveston Island Property Owners Association (WGIPOA), consisting of 40 property owner associations on West Galveston Island, was organized in February, 1999, to promote issues of interest to property owner associations and their members, particularly preserving and protecting the gulf and bay shorelines and the quality of life as the west end continues to develop.

Today the west end of Galveston Island represents over 50% of the City of Galveston tax base and we have 40 property associations as members.  The goal of the WGIPOA is to work with elected officials to ensure the continued growth and protection of this area for the benefit of west end residents and the city overall, especially for our future generations. During the Texas Legislative Session, the WGIPOA is very active in introducing and supporting bills, particularly in Galveston County.

As an association, we can act on problems and solutions collectively so that our members no longer feel alone in resolving issues.  The WGIPOA represents the interests of west end property owners by working closely with local, county, and state officials to ensure that these investments are protected.

The WGIPOA has been very active over the years in beach and bay restoration projects.  In addition, the WGIPOA and the City of Jamaica Beach have once a year a Hurricane Preparedness and Recovery meeting for the west end right before hurricane season begins.
