MINUTES: The minutes of the last WGIPOA meeting of April 22 are on our website.
MEETING: The next meeting will be on May 20, 2017, at the Galveston Country Club, 14228 Stewart Road, starting at 8:30 AM for breakfast burritos and the meeting starting at 9:00 AM.
NOTE: There is a golf tournament this Saturday at the Galveston Country Club. There will be an attendant to direct non-golfers to the side and back parking lots as well as a new one behind the Country Club. There will be an attendant to direct where the cars can park behind the country club and come in through the back door to the club. The General Manager assures there is plenty of parking with the new arrangements so please come and hear and learn about the Port of Galveston.
PROGRAM: The West Galveston Island Property Owners Association is pleased to have former Mayor of Galveston, Bo Quiroga, who is Director of Economic Development and External Affairs and Records Management Officer for the Port Of Galveston, to bring us up to date in what is going on with the Port of Galveston. Bo will have a PowerPoint presentation on economic updates that the Port received from the Martin Study, completed infrastructure projects, cruise statistics and port of call opportunities. Galveston ranks as the fourth busiest cruise port in the U.S. In addition, the Port has a new modern terminal and more cruise ships are coming to Galveston as well as an increase in roll on/roll off cargo from ships.
