MEETING:  The next meeting will be on July 19, 2014, beginning at 8:30 AM for breakfast burritos and coffee and 9:00 AM for the meeting at the Galveston Country Club, 14228 Stewart Road.

PROGRAM:  Bob Stokes, President of the Galveston Bay Foundation, will bring the west end up to date on the organization and its activities.  Bob will talk about the recent oil spill, GBF overview, storm surge issues, and fish consumption advisories. This is a great organization so please invite your neighbors and friends to hear all the latest activities and projects for the Galveston Bay Foundation.

Galveston Beach Summer Band: Americana at its best!  Every Tuesday starting at 7:30 PM through August the Galveston Beach Band will play at the Sealy Pavilion (in front of the Rosenberg Library in downtown Galveston).  The Beach Band has been doing these concerts for 48 years through the leadership of Frank Incaprera and it is a must see event.

Sea Turtles:  The HEART (Help Endangered Animals – Ridley Turtles) organization needs your help to protect the endangered Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle.  Visit the website: http://www.ridleyturtles.org/

A new organization is in Galveston called the Sea Turtle Restoration Project (STRP) located at 2228 Broadway and the website is:http://www.seaturtles.org/

Ongoing:  Join the American Shore & Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) and automatically become a member of the Texas Chapter.  See www.asbpa.org and www.texasasbpa.org for details.

August 8, 2014: Texas ASBPA Chapter quarterly meeting at the Galveston Island Convention Center starting at 11:30 AM.  Main topic is partnering and collaborating with the Galveston District of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.
