MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

June 19, 2010

The West Galveston Island Property Owners Association Board of Directors meeting was held on June 19, 2010 at Jamaica Beach Fire Department. Jerry Mohn, President called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. A quorum of Directors was present by attendance of Boyd Carr - Isla Del Sol, Jeff Southland - Dunes of the West, Marty Baker - Pirates Beach, Carolyn Farmer - Terramar, Clay Lewis - Sportsman, Ron Coker - Bermuda Beach Improvement Committee, Peggy Zahler -Spanish Grant Beach, Al Galli - Jamaica Beach and Susan Gonzales Pointe San Luis.

The financial report was given. No taxes were due. It was recommended that WGIPOA change the tax year to a calendar year. Motion by Tom Boothe and seconded by Jeff Southland, the Board approved to change the tax year to the calendar year.

The cost to file the tax return is $200 per year for the last four (4) years and has not been invoiced until now. Motion by Boyd Carr and seconded by Jeff Southland, the Board approved to pay $800 to John Cartwright for preparation of the tax return for the last four (4) years.

The minutes for the April meeting were reviewed. Motion by Peggy Zahler and seconded by Ron Coker the Board approved the minutes of April 17, 2009.

The minutes for the Special April meeting were reviewed. Motion by Peggy Zahler and seconded by Marty Baker the Board approved the minutes of Special meeting held on April 17, 2009.

The minutes for the May meeting were reviewed. Motion by Tom Boothe and seconded by Marty Baker the Board approved the minutes of May 15, 2009.

The Financial reports were through May 31 were reviewed. Motion by Peggy Zahler and seconded by Tom Boothe, the Board accepted the financial report.

The board discussed and approved the resolution for Steve Spicer, which will be read at the joint Jamaica Beach/WGIPOA meeting today.

Discussion was also held concerning Sidney McClendon on having a memorial in his honor. Sidney died on June 8 and was an integral part in the formation and organization of the WGIPOA and served as a Board member representing the Pirates Property Owners Association. Since Sidney was an avid kayaker and Park enthusiast the Board decided that a memorial at the Galveston Island State Park would be appropriate. It was recommended that this also be discussed and handled through the Friends of Galveston Island State Park which Sidney helped in the formation and organization.

Marty Baker will be representing Pirates POA on the Board.

West Galveston Island POA will hold the Hurricane Preparedness joint meeting with Jamaica Beach today.
