MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
The West Galveston Island Property Owners Association Board of Directors meeting was called to order at 11:36 a.m. by Jerry Mohn, President. A quorum was established by the attendance of Directors Clay Lewis – Sportsman Road, Tom Boothe – Condo, Barbara Peirsol – Spanish Grant Bay Side, Ron Coker – Bermuda Beach, Sidney McClendon – Pirates Beach, Debra Phelps – Pointe San Luis, Jeff Southland – Dunes of West Beach, Jim Jolly – Spanish Grant Beachside, Ron Cooker Bermuda beach, and Al Galli – Jamaica Beach. Susan Gonzales, CKM Property Management was also present as secretary.
The minutes of January were emailed and reviewed by the Directors. Upon motion by Tom Boothe and seconded by Ron Cooker, the Board approved the minutes by unanimous vote.
The financial reports were reviewed. Upon motion duly made by Clay Lewis and seconded by Tom Boothe, the Board accepted the financial report by unanimous vote.
The election of Officers was discussed. Upon motion duly made by Tom Boothe and seconded by Clay Lewis, the Board approved the following Slate of Officers by unanimous vote.
President – Jerry Mohn
Vice President – Peggy Zahler
Secretary – Barbara Piersol
Treasurer - Ron Cooker
Discussion was held concerning insurance. The D & O liability insurance at a premium of $1442/year for liability. Motion by Sidney McClendon and seconded by Clay Lewis, the Board approved to pay the premium on the policy.
Discussion was held on the method for Candidate Forum March and April. Discussion that anything sent out would have a disclaimer that the WGIPOA does not support any one candidate. Motion by Sidney McClendon and seconded by Tom Boothe, the Board approved that flyers not be sent out on candidates. Motion passes, two opposed.
Mayoral Candidate Forum. Three candidates so far will be at the meeting. Will get an independent moderator. John Brick with be asked. The Board will send in their questions and then pick the top three questions with answers being timed at two minutes. The candidate will have an opportunity to speak. Cards for attendees to ask question. John Brick will handle the Forum.
