MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

April 17, 2010

West Galveston Island Property Owners Association Special Board of Directors Meeting was held on April 17, 2010. The meeting was called to order by Jerry Mohn, President at 11:00 a.m. and was held at the Galveston Country Club. A quorum of Directors was established by the attendance of Directors Clay Lewis - Sportsman Road, Tom Boothe - Condo, Barbara Piersol - Spanish Grant Bay, Ron Coker - Bermuda Beach, Sidney McClendon - Pirates Beach, Marty Bilek - Dunes of West Beach, Debra Phelps - Pointe San Luis, Peggy Zahler - Spanish Grant Beach, Carolyn Farmer - Terramar, and Steve Kendziera - Jamaica Beach. Susan Gonzales, CKM Property Management was also present as secretary. Marty Baker and Bill Moll were also present.

The Financial reports were reviewed. Motion by Tom Boothe and seconded by Ron Coker, the Board accepted the financial report.

Proposed Setback Ordinance: At the March 30 Planning Commission meeting, we requested the WGIPOA be given an opportunity to review the proposed ordinance. Reviewed the information gathered at the March 30 Planning Commission meeting and the Planning Department meeting on April 14. Sidney McClendon will draft up the WGIPOA recommendations for the Planning Commission meeting on April 20.

Isla del Sol Water Tower: The Board agreed to support member Isla del Sol's efforts with the City to move the location of the proposed water tower in front of the subdivision.

Steve Spicer: Motion by Tom Boothe and a second by Debra Phelps, the WGIPOA will prepare a resolution to acknowledge Steve Spicer's outstanding efforts for the past ten years as Alderman and Mayor Pro-Tem of Jamaica Beach. Steve is also the Jamaica Beach Fire Chief. This resolution will be presented to Steve at the joint Jamaica Beach- West Galveston Island Property Owners Association joint Hurricane Preparedness and Recovery program on June 19.

Funds:

  1. Motion by Sidney McClendon and seconded by Debra Phelps, the WGIPOA will spend a max of $500 if we need to use the Moody Gardens Hotel for the May 15 meeting.
  2. Motion by Sidney McClendon and seconded by Carolyn Farmer to approve expenditures of $750 to help fund the joint Jamaica Beach- West Galveston Island Property Owners Association joint Hurricane Preparedness and Recovery program on June 19.
